Finishes in 2018!

2018 was a year I have dedicated to getting some quilts finished.  I have really been enjoying thread sketching for the past few months, but had several that didn't quite get the quilting and binding done.

This girl is quickly becoming a favourite of mine and I enjoy having her do fun and quirky things.

This flower was a coloring page that I looked at for inspiration, drew on fabric and then outlined in black thread. I let it hang on my design wall for a week and decided it must have colour.

I took a break from thread sketching in January as I had this concept in my head that I simply had to try on fabric. Here is  a snapshot of what I was trying to achieve.  Full pic coming soon=)

As a treat to myself I bought several different sized drunkard path templates and will start playing with those soon!

Thread Sketching and Circles

It has been a busy summer, filled with fishing, hiking, swimming, and long walks at the farm. Kids headed back to school yesterday and I have entered my sewing room with inspiration and creativity!

Thread sketching girls has caught my attention and this is the third piece I have made. Still working out the process of the sketching to reduce wrinkles, ensure a smooth finish and so on. This is the one I finished. There is writing in the background that says 'because she can'.

If you follow my blog, you know I have a slight addiction to circles. Out came the rotary cutter and glue and freezer paper as I practiced some fun circles to see how I can turn it into a quilt.

Here is a sneak peek of a pattern I am releasing shortly.

Do you have any fun fall projects?

Quilting and more quilting!

I think May and June are the two busiest months for me.  Gearing up for Quilt Canada 2017, Canada's national quilt conference and all the social media that goes along with that has been crazy and amazing all at the same time.

I have managed to sneak in a few fun little projects and am working on some new projects that are not quite ready to be shared.

While this does look like Easter eggs that are actually napkins, my kids have enjoyed using them at all meals, any season.

This sweet button bowl showed up on a facebook page made with glue, and I just had to try my own version of it.   Using a balloon and buttons, I went to work.   It was messy that is for sure.   Someone mentioned putting a rick rack border on the outer edge, so I may have to go back and do that.

Here is something I tried and have been doing quite a few of lately. Thread sketching has caught my fancy.   I can't really draw but am finding objects that don't require a lot of skill in their shapes and am having fun with that.

Next up, I am diving into some ruler work so you will see some quilts coming out of that.
