Chips Off The Old Block and Fun Stuff

Over the holidays I had my two little munchkins with me and at one point they were really watching me work on some 3D embellishments.   I offered to them to each make a little art quilt of their own with the theme of 'Your Favourite Food'.

This is where I start to grin, knowing that they are just like their mother.   Without any prompting from me, they didn't just use fabric, but foam and paper and markers.

I just had to show you this piece of fabric I received from Japan!  Yep, a member of my family went to Japan and brought this back for me!  I do love my family=)  What would you do with this, it is a 16" square?

I linked up my WIP over here today.

Are you familiar with Pantone?  They are the trendsetters for colours each year.   People wait religiously to their colour choices.   For 2013 they have chosen Emerald.  I went to my favourite colour site TinEye Labs and plugged in Emerald.    If you have never gone to this site, you simply must.  It is a few easy steps and you have the colour palette of your every whim!

Now with a little pink thrown in, pink does look good everywhere!

What do you think?   Will you use Emerald this year in your quilts?

Love the kid's art. I remember those days when my little girls became artists. I miss that. I love the green and pink combination.

The kid's artwork is so cute!

I would make a pillow cover with that gorgeous print. Some nice piping would look wonderful and you can still keep the print intact.

I love emerald...and will sure use it this year or hues of :) The panel from Japan is so beautiful...I have no idea what I'd do with it, hang it and admire it :)

What's that old saying? The apple doesn't fall far from the tree? Heehee! They have surely been watching closely as you create, and now they are showing their talents! They really made cute projects. :)
I am in awe of the panel there...really beautiful!

first of all love kids art too - the way I brought up my daughter was just to give her a bunch of stuff to create and then see what she came up with - every once in a while I would throw a hint in there but nothing too loud. Little by little she would read my blog - or ask me questions about my work and then I would slip in the design elements in. Secondly - I would take and cut up the panel and add more coordinating fabric - making it more fragmented - like cut it into strips and stagger the strips a bit - you could still tell what it suppose to be - but it wouldn't look like a panel

The Japanese fabric would be a great center for a wallhanging. Or a pillow cover. Very pretty.

Oh, I love that piece from Japan! I would hard it, because I wouldn't be able to figure out what to do with it.

emerald...I need to think about how I feel about that. I am still loving the orange. :-)
