Flower Pillow Tutorial
It's time for another tutorial. The super duper talented Candice has made this lovely flower pillow. This woman oozes talent and sweetness like nobody's business, you simply must check her out.
Go and see her tutorial at The Quilted Fish.

Many of you have asked how I attached the lego to my little art quilt. It did take some trial and error. Next week I will show you the two methods I found that worked.
I am making the draw later today for my giveaway, so you still have a few hours to enter. I am thrilled beyond measure with all the terrific new followers! Thank you. There are still 20 days to reach my goal of 150 followers. In saying that, I will have another giveaway at the first of the week.
I will let you in on another secret.... I am waiting, very impatiently, for something coming in the mail. If it turns out to be what I am hoping, then I will be forced out of sheer ecstacy to throw in yet another giveaway. So stay tuned.

Lego on an Art Quilt?
First, let me have a little scream. 115 followers! I only need 35 more by March 31st to meet my goal of 150. Has everyone checked out my giveaway? You only have 2 days left to enter. I will be posting another giveaway after that too.
I think I may have gone slightly over the edge on my next 3D art quilt. When I find something I think would look great as a 3D embellishment, I like to make a small sample of it. This gives me a chance to figure out what I need to prepare, how to apply the item and what attributes it brings to the quilt.
I tried out lego. It surprised me. I had originally thought I would just put it on...little did I realize all the planning it took to create a pleasing ensemble of it. And with lego only coming in certain sizes, I had to make sure there wasn't big gaps where the pieces didn't meet, or trying to squeeze too many pieces into too small of an area.
After several attempts I finally got it to work. I then drew it out on a sheet of paper to use as my template. I worked all in blue, but I think next time I would like to use an assortment of bright colours and make something a little more abstract. My background is a piece of fabric that has strips of blue fused down in a pattern similar to that of the lego, to give more depth and visual interest to the quilt.
For a first try, I was quite pleased with it. What do you think of my Lego Art?

Bottle Caps
First, before I explode in anticipated excitement, I am up to 95 followers. In just a few days I have gone up 39 followers! I need 55 more followers to reach 150, so if you have any dear quilting friends, please pass it on. Please read this post to enter my giveaway. And I am having another giveaway as soon as this one ends.
As I have mentioned maybe a thousand times, I love 3D embellishing. I cannot make an art quilt without some type of three dimensional embellishment on it. It just adds that extra something to my work.

This little gem is one of my favourites. I was experimenting with bottle caps. Each one is different.
Starting with the top left hand one, I hammered it flat and stacked some colourful buttons inside it.
The top right one had fabric covering the bottom and buttons on top. The middle row uses a pretty blue jewel attached to the top of the cap. And the other one has wool roving and a sequin sewn into it. If you look close, you will see that I used the thread to come around the cap and encasing the roving and sequin into it.
The last row has the cap hammered down, and fabric and a button inside to embellish it . The bottom right has a felt flower tucked in with a tiny bead as the centre.
I placed the caps on their own little squares of fabric and fused them to a funky batik background. My binding is an elastic ribbon.
Now go and tell a few friends to enter my giveaway.... quick... not much time left.....

1st Fabric Give Away and 1 Year Celebration
Why a fabric give away you ask? March 28th will be my one year blogiversary. I decided a celebration in fabric would be in order. This is not the only give away, so check back often this month for more.
In case this is your first time checking me out, here is what I am about.
I am a quilt artist that specializes in 3D embellishing. I have my own method for making shapes 3 dimensional. You can check out my gallery to see them.
I am part of a design team for The Quilted Fish, which belongs to Amanda Herring who is fabric designer extraordinaire for Riley Blake. Our team designs patterns and posts them on The Quilted Fish blog as tutorials using her latest fabric. Yes, I do know I am a very lucky girl!
My goal for my 1 year anniversary is to get 150 followers. I had thought of doing 100, but then decided why not push the limit, and dream really, really big. So I did.... I want 150 followers by March 31st. There I said it. Now to achieve it.
On to the important stuff, how to win fabric. Pictured above is an Easter fat quarter bundle of 5 -100% cotton fabrics. For a chance to win, you must do one of the following, or all of them.
1. Sign up to Follow my blog. Then post a comment telling me you did so.
2. Post about it on your blog. Tell me you did in the comment section.
3. And if you are already an angel and following me, post a comment letting me know.
I will make the draw on Friday March 11th. That is the day that I post my tutorial on The Quilted Fish. So you simply must come back to see if you are the winner and to see the totally cool art I created with Amanda's fabric line 'Sweet Divinity'.
This contest is open world wide. And let's get that dream of mine underway! Go 150 go!
There will be another contest soon so check back often.

Spare Time = Beads
Do you find yourself with 10 minutes waiting to pick the kids up, or 5 minutes till supper is ready?
I find I have lots of 'little minutes' in a day. I can't start anything big, or I am not near my studio, so what can I do?
I found a little purse and put in a few strips of fancy paper, a tube of glue and a small straw. Now when I go anywhere or am stuck waiting, I take this with me and make paper beads.
I may turn it into a necklace or use to adorn an art quilt. Regardless, my time is not wasted and I am doing artsy stuff!

Sweet Divinity Purse
Okay, have you seen enough Sweet Divinity yet from me? No, I didn't think so. This fabric is too much fun not to sew with. But I did get a sneak peek of Amanda's next line of fabric 'Sugar and Spice' and let me just say.... so so perfect!
Anyway, my other son decided to go to the birthday party that my first son was going to. I needed a gift for him too. Off to create with my Sweet Divinity.... I decided every little girl needs a cute little purse.
This one has a soft ribbon for the strap, a cute button to cover the closure and the inside has striped fabric.
I kinda want one myself.
