Lego on an Art Quilt?

First, let me have a little scream.  115 followers!  I only need 35 more by March 31st to meet my goal of 150.   Has everyone checked out my giveaway?  You only have 2 days left to enter.  I will be posting another giveaway after that too.

I think I may have gone slightly over the edge on my next 3D art quilt.   When I find something I think would look great as a 3D embellishment, I like to make a small sample of it.   This gives me a chance to figure out what I need to prepare, how to apply the item and what  attributes it brings to the quilt.

I tried out lego.   It surprised me.   I had originally thought I would just put it on...little did I realize all the planning it took to create a pleasing ensemble of it.  And with lego only coming in certain sizes, I had to make sure there wasn't big gaps where the pieces didn't meet, or trying to squeeze too many pieces into too small of an area.

After several attempts I finally got it to work.   I then drew it out on a sheet of paper to use as my template.   I worked all in blue, but I think next time I would like to use an assortment of bright colours and make something a little more abstract.   My background is a piece of fabric that has strips of blue fused down in a pattern similar to that of the lego, to give more depth and visual interest to the quilt.

For a first try, I was quite pleased with it.  What do you think of my Lego Art?

Wow, I never thought of how that quilt design looks like legos! But they really fit right in!
How will you attach them? I mean, sewing over them will probably not be an option :)

This is awesome! I love it. I love it in blues. What a neat surprise in a quilt. How did you attach it?
I think one in bright colours would be fun too. Thanks for sharing and good luck with the follower count! I'm off to check out your giveaway.

Like the idea, how did you attache them? Can we do the same with lincoln logs...now that would be a true log cabin quilt! ; )
