Experimenting

I have been collecting black and white fabrics for close to two years now.
Here is some beautiful Riley Blake black and white fabric nestled in between solids and of course polka dots!

Below is some shot cotton I picked up while at a conference last year. I want to use it, but do acknowledge there is quite a fray factor to it, so am still deliberating how to best use it.

I thought I would have some fun and experiment with a block. Using Cheryl Arkinson's simple tutorial, I whipped up this little gem.
I am contemplating doing a whole quilt with black and white and a splash of polka dot, but would like to use my own design. I will keep experimenting, but the colour sure does show up in black and white doesn't it?

I will leave you with a 2 minute video on creativity

I have done a black and grey quilt before. And it turned out that it just had to have shocking pink in to. It looks amazing. If you do make a black and grey quilt, my word of advice, use a black batting.

The pink polka dot is Devine lol in all those dark colours and it is always fun or creative to change patterns to make them your own. Blessings Sandra

I just made my grandson a shark quilt (he's 10 but has always said he was going to be a marine biologist and save the sharks). The shark material was all black and grey's, except for a wee bit of red around their mouth so I used some red in the sashings and corner of the blocks and it was amazing how it popped. My first thought was to use light blue but that sure didn't happen!!! Fun to experiment!

New to your blog. Love your design. Very creative eye. I'm new to Southern Ontario. Can you recommend fabric stores for modern quilting fabric?
