Black and White

Remember I told you my dilemma with my black and white quilt for our guild's president challenge?

How I could not sew the screening under my machine because it just grabbed it.

I came up with a solution.  I decided to use embroidery floss and hand quilt it in lines throughout the quilt.  I used a dark grey as the main colour, and then splashes of the other colours throughout the quilting.

I think I will do a few vertical lines as well.

The grey literally disappears into the quilt.  You can only see it when it comes through a coloured square.

What do you think?

Great idea on the screening.

Now about the "hacking" - I checked and they are posting my work also. Which form did you use to complain?

The double coloured stitching is strong enough to show at a distance. I like that.

I like the quilting lines but boo to the hackers. I just post photos of my quilts and other art/craft pieces so I don't think they would hack me but I will check it out just in case. Shame on them.

You know, I was told that grey is a no no, from the typing finger tips of the prez. Also, the 10% of another colour needs to be a primary colour was what was written in the first guidelines. I can't handle that many rules. I'm not being a joiner! lol

However, this is one of my favourite quilts of yours...evenn if it is a rule breaker. :-)

I LOVE IT!!!

Adding hand stitching to any piece makes it more special.

The quilt is brilliant! My blog posts were pirated too but I see the site has been blocked. Lets hope they can't do this again.

Hi Jackie - I love the use of the coloured thread. It adds visual interest. The ombred effect from the net is fabulous!
As for the hacking I wanted to check to see if my work had been accessed and the site is now down - hopefully permanently! I would love it if you would keep us posted if you hear anything further.

I Love It! I really want to touch it :) Love how you keep exploring 3D elements in your quilts. Thanks for sharing.

I think you found the perfect solution. I also think the hand stitching adds a textural element you wouldn't have had, by machine.
It's a great piece.
